D. R. Horne & Company seeks a motivated individual to provide professional support for D. R. Horne & Company and Conservation Fund (TCF) projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in land planning, landscape architecture or, natural resource conservation; he or she must be able to demonstrate proficiency with Esri ArcMap GIS software; understand concepts of clear graphic design; and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The successful candidate will be able to work independently and provide support for a small team of planners, developers, and conservationists. The successful candidate may also move into a project management role. Tasks will range from administrative duties (scheduling meetings, assembling reports), to providing technical support to project managers (creating GIS property and environmental analysis maps, conducting project research, and preparing graphic illustrations) to substantive project responsibilities (physical planning, professional correspondence, report writing, and field reconnaissance).
This position is available immediately in Arlington, Virginia – just across the Potomac River from downtown Washington, DC.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
• Graduate degree in related fields
• Proficiency with ArcMap (v. 9 or 10) is essential
• Ability to produce presentation quality mapping in ArcMap
• Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and ability to work in a Mac-based office
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good organization skills and ability to multitask
